The Australian 1923 Halfpenny is the very rarest of all of the dates in the series, and that includes every date from the beginning of the series in 1911 to date. This example has some great details, but suffered from some light corrosion in the past, hence the “environmental damage” designation from PCGS. How to value such a coin…that is the eternal question. Jumping to the Standard Catalog of World coins, we find these valued at $2,300 in VF and $9,000 in EF (in the 2019 edition). At half of the VF price, this should be a good deal.
